I asked
I asked the turtle why it was slow
And it smiled and and took its time to answer
I asked the rabbit why it was fast
And it zoomed right past me, never bothering to reply
I asked the sea why it was calm
And it decided right then to whip up a storm
I asked the rain to stop
And it thundered in buckets out of spite
I asked the sun to shine
And the best job of hiding all night
I asked the moon why it followed me
And it laughed at my window and kept me awake
I asked myself, “What’s going on?”
And the clock ticked and tocked
The alarm rang
The snooze button froze
And I kept quiet
And everything was perfect.
