Why? (poem 020)

Why? by Mr. S

Dad: We’re going out today.
2 Year Old: Why?
Dad: Because it’s a beautiful day.
2 Year Old: Why?
Dad: Because the sun is out.
2 Year Old: Why?
Dad: Because there are no clouds and it’s daytime.
2 Year Old: Why?
Dad: Because the weather is cooperating today.
2 Year Old: Why?
Dad: Because it’s giving us a break from a week of torrential rain.
2 Year Old: Why?
Dad: Maybe because the weather finally feels sorry for us.
2 Year Old: Why?
Dad: Maybe because the weather knows what it’s like to be trapped inside all week.
2 Year Old: Why?
Dad: Maybe because the weather has a 2 year old child who needs to get out of the house and run around a lot.
2 Year Old: Why?
Dad: Maybe because she’s been cooped up in the house for so long, all she can do is ask her dad, “Why?”
2 Year Old: Why?
Dad: Maybe because she’s bored.
2 Year Old: Why?
Dad: Maybe because she’s going to be a scientist when she grows up and she just can’t wait.
2 Year Old: Why?
Dad: Maybe because she’s super smart and asks “Why?” all the time.
2 Year Old: Why?
Dad: I don’t know.
2 Year Old: Why?
Dad: I just don’t… but you know what… I think it’s starting to rain again.
2 Year Old: Why?
