Stumped…

Ok. I’m putting out a call for help. I can’t figure this problem out:

Why is it that when I have multiple media links in my posts, iTunes (and possibly other aggregators) picks up the wrong link. You can see this in action with my last 2 posts (attempting to get Podcast 50 up… here and here).

I’ve since fixed both postings (at least I think I did) by taking out the links of the video files and just typing the addresses in. When I initially published it, the first video file (Rosa’s movie) was picked up and the aggregator ignored the mp3 file. Not good.

You can see from this screenshot how the first attempt picked up the video in iTunes:

I use feedburner for my feed and have the options set to be itunes friendly:

and have it set to only pick up audio files. So why did it publish the video?

Any help, much appreciated!

    Bob,

When you uploaded the file was it an mp3 file? Looking at the two erroneous podcasts they were encoded as movie files. Feedburner might have still processed it as a video file despite your preference.

    Hi Michael,

Yes, the file that I link to (the podcast) is an mp3. The other files are elsewhere. But even if feedburner sees mov as mp3, why doesn’t it grab the first link (i.e., my mp3)?

    Thanks so much!

Blame it on the Google factor. :)

Bob, have you tried using the free podpress plug-in for wordpress? I have been using it and really like how it puts an embedded flash player in your post and tracks individual plays of each file. That wouldn’t solve your problem, however, since you are putting multiple enclosures into a single blog post. My understanding of the RSS implementation of enclosuures is the same as what you seem to be thinking: The first podcastable file (enclosure) should get picked up for the podcast. Strange that Feedburner is not filtering out the other files and picked up on the movie files. I’ll post this question over in the podcasting section of the ADE community and see if people have a suggestion for you, and ask them to leave a coment here. Mysterious!

Thanks Wes, I’m going to go install it right now!
