dear Intrepid Colleagues, Congratulations on your 100th show! Heliotropic, you are, and you inspire others to reach for the sun as well. I am deeply touched by how you continue to “cultivate great ideas ” (SEED”s tag line) over lo these many years. Serving as SEED’s Head Gardener and Chief Horticulturist was the high point of my life (so far!) because I got to find, celebrate and reward amazing teachers like you. Just for the record, SEED began in 1993, and was put on steroids in 1999 when Bob Shafto & I were awarded a $7 million federal Technology Innovation Challenge award. That grant enabled us to regionalize, and to live the dream we had had of SEED from the early days, w/ Gwen Christman as the southern regional coordinator (we had 5 others). Also for the record, I think the term “SEEDling” was first coined by Mike Nollette, SEED’s second Technology Facilitator (Jim Moulton was the first). Mike & I made some baby clothes for a SEED developer’s newborn, and stenciled the logo with “ling” attached to it. Yet you have taken that and carried the metaphor forward with terrific energy and skill. Thank you so much for the shout out and for carrying on the work. All love.
