Wow. Bob — your students did a great job here. I really enjoyed hearing their take on Wikipedia.

Your approach with kids reminds me of the teachers who let their kids create bulletin boards rather than the teacher created bulletin boards.

Allowing the kids to express themselves in their language at their level, truly captures the essence of authentic learning and student ownership.

Great work. I’ll use this podcast to show teachers the power of both podcasting and wikipedia.

The kids did an awesome job. We recently had a staff development class with a small group on this. I did a bit of research since there is so many people that look at Wikipedia as an not being legitimate. Since I felt as I might have to defend this (as I did over the vacation to family members) I looked for “legitimate” resources that had been defamed in the same sense and wouldn’t you know that this was done in a peer reviewed journal? Alan Sokal did an experiment in which he published a false article in a scholarly journal to prove the fact that influence can be more powerful than true research. I did cross reference this with other sources which is something that I think we need to teach the kids, whether it is social constructed knowledge or scholarly journals, they need to look at other resources, which is a lesson that the kids from Room 208 get, but some college students still don’t:) Keep up the great work!

Hey kids, I loved this podcast you did where you explained the wikipedia controversy. Now I hear that you are working on another podcast about what the classroom should/will look like in 2015. Well, I am wondering what you will be doing in 2015! Hm, now there is some serious thinking. You will be a high school graduate or senior at Wells High School and some of you will be in post secondary school. That is a way of saying you will continue your education either at YCCC or any of the colleges or universities in the area. What will your technology look like in your continuing education.
