    Bob,

Excellent tutorial. Windows users can use the program CutePDF in the same way you used the built in PDF creator for Macs.

I was thinking Wordle would be useful in student writing as an editting tool. Students who struggle with word variety can plug their writing into Wordle to see if they’re using a word too often in their writing. Another way students can use Wordle would be to make sure their writting is on topic by checking out the word frequency and judging whether it is in-line with topic.

I can’t wait to hear from others.

    Hey Bob,

I’ve used Wordle to create a cloud that reflects the interests of a student.

    Check out my son’s.

    Michael and Adrian,

Thanks so much for those great examples and ideas! Awesome!

Adrian, what did your son use for text? Did he repeat words or cull that from some bigger writing?

Thanks for the helpful tutorial Bob. I have played a little with Wordle but you have included some new ideas for me to try.
I first used it in a presentation i gace called “How MY Journey into the Web 2.0 World has changed my Teaching” and made a Wordle of many of the words I had never heard of a year ago before I started blogging etc.
I also used it this week as an “On the holidays” activity for my class. The students each typed in 5 or 6 words that described their 2 week vacation. Here is the Wordle that I saved using Skitch: http://img.skitch.com/20080726-c9e29w11fme1ehhpwfbh6tc5bt.jpg
    Thanks again
    Jane

Excellent! Thanks for doing this. I had my graduate teacher education students plug their key thoughts into wordle as a closure to the course….just another way to complete a reflection. Then, they posted their “wordle” to their blogs.
