This week a cartoonist came to our class and showed us more about cartooning and what his job is like. He's the co-creator of the Ninja Turtles. Mr. Steve Lavigne showed us how to draw a Ninja Turtle. He also showed us some coloring book covers he made. Go here for pictures of his visit. Go here for Mr. S's blog entry. And go here for why we are excited about comics!

Also this week, we went to the Book Fair in the library. we bought books instead of borrowing them. They had many different choices, but not as much as the real library. They also sell pencils, bookmarks, and posters, but the books are the best. They have different sections for the books. They are not sectioned by author like in a real library. They are sectioned by the kind of book, like Fantasy and Coloring Books. We got a lot of good books from it.

We continued to work on our Holes poster. We are almost finished with it and we are almost finished with the book. We had to draw pictures like Stanley and Zero and a five by five foot hole. In the hole, we drew a shovel and a yellow spotted lizard. We are making connections between the characters and events.

We heard that our class won the Box Top contest! Wells was in the top six of all of Maine. You win by getting the most boxtops that turn into money. We are getting milk and cookies just to celebrate!
